Why choose a BYD Motability car?

There are endless benefits to choosing a BYD Motability car, but some of these include:

  • Adaptations: Choose your BYD Motability car and decide on the adaptations to suit you. Including adaptations to make driving easier, help you get in and out of your vehicle or to help store equipment in the boot or via roof hoists.
  • Home charging point installation: A home charger will be included in your BYD Motability lease, or you can select a subscription to the BP Pulse network if you cannot have a charger at home.
  • Insurance: With a BYD Motability car, insuance is included, keep you covered in the case of an emergency. Insurance even includes tyres and windscreen replacement.
  • Vehicle tax: Your road tax is included with your BYD vehicle. 
  • Breakdown cover: Drive with peace of mind knowing you're covered in the unlikely event of a breakdown.

BYD Motability Vehicle Adaptations

Each of our BYD electric or hybrid vehicles can be adapted to suit you and your needs, giving you freedom and independence. Some adaptations are included in your lease too, making the process even simpler. Learn more about electric mobility car adaptations below:

  • Getting in and out: Choose from swivel chairs, transfer plates and hoists which can be added to your BYD Motability car to make driving more accessible. 
  • Adaptations for driving: Take advantage of controls including adapted steering wheels, accelerators and gear sticks, compatible with automatic cars. When choosing your adaptations, your installer will let you know if the controls you choose are suitable for your chosen model. 
  • Adaptations for equipment: Need help storing your equipment in your BYD Motability car? Choose between our boot and roof hoists so you can travel with everything you need for a days adventure. 

How does the BYD Motability process work?

It helps to know more about the Motability process when deciding on which BYD vehicle suits you.

1. Check you're eligible

You can join the Motability Scheme if you receive a qualifying mobility allowance and have at least 12 months left. Including the higher rate mobility part of PIP and the higher rate mobility part of DLA in the UK.

2. Choose a vehicle that suits you best

Once you have confirmed your eligibility, you'll need to pick a BYD car to suit you.

3. Select Adaptations

Now it's time to consider what type of adaptations you might need/ Whether that's steering or getting in and out of your vehicle, we're here to guide you through which adaptation could best help.

4. Paying for your car

The allowance you receive will be exchanged for your electric BYD Motability car. You won't need to do anything, as your allowance provider will provide this payment.

If you're allowance won't cover the full cost, then an Advance Payment may need to be added to top this up. The Advance Payment is a fixed payment paid upfront and calculated based on the cost of the vehicle.

5. Apply and Order

Place your order with our helpful staff here at Greenhous BYD. We will require a UK passport, National Insurance number, driving license and grant award letter. Our staff are experts and will be able to guide you through the process quickly and efficiently.

6. Home Charger Installation

It's your choice whether you'd prefer a home charger or to charge on the go. If you choose a home charger, Motability will take care of the installation for you. You’ll also receive a Motability Go Charge card so you can top up at over 50,000 charge points. If you can’t install a charger at home, you’ll receive a subscription to the BP Pulse Network to charge at public charging stations. 

7. Collect your Vehicle

It's an exciting day picking up your new BYD Motability vehicle. Your lease begins as soon as you collect your vehicle, and we will run through your new vehicle and adaptations, where necessary, to ensure it's suited to your needs. Now it's time to enjoy your new BYD Motability car!
